Things to Do with the Family around Prescott Ranch
The location of Prescott Ranch within the Gallatin Valley makes it ideal for spending quality time with family. You’ll find plenty to do, with endless adventures hiding in every mountain range and down every river. Whether you’ve got some cowboy in your blood, or need a place to unwind with a cold snack, we’ve got lots around to keep you busy. Here’s a taste of what the Gallatin Valley has to offer for your family.
Visit Yellowstone National Park
A trip to Yellowstone is essential for any new resident. After all, the place that some people travel thousands of miles to visit each year is right in your backyard. Take the hour-and-a-half drive through Montana’s Paradise Valley (appropriately named for stunning scenery straight out of, well, paradise) down to the Gardiner entrance of the park. From there, you have easy access to Mammoth Hot Springs and the Lamar Valley, and the drive to Old Faithful or Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone is sure to be filled with wildlife sightings and natural wonders. Head back through West Yellowstone, and enjoy the views on the way through Big Sky and Gallatin Canyon.
Head to a Cats Game
The Montana State University Bobcats are a bit of a big deal in these parts, and you’ll have to check out a home game when football season rolls around. If you can, catch the famous Cat-Griz game, where the two major Montana universities face off in a rivalry for the ages. Be sure to rep your Bobcat blue and gold, and cheer for the home team.
Make a Stop at a Local Museum
The world-famous Museum of the Rockies is the place to dig into the past, with dinosaur bones and local history to entertain and inform. The American Computer and Robotics Museum makes an exciting stop for any tech-ophiles in your family, and a visit to the Gallatin History Museum is a great way to get a sense of what life was like for early Americans in the valley. There’s always more to learn, and visiting local museums is a great way to do it.
Hit the Slopes
Skiing and snowboarding is the top way to spend a winter in the region, full of fresh air and fluffy powder. Take your pick between Bridger Bowl or Big Sky, or give them both a try. You can sign the kids up for lessons while you ski, and then meet up again to shred together in the afternoon.
Check out Jump Time
Jump Time is the perfect place to celebrate kids’ birthday parties or burn some energy after a (rare) dreary day indoors. This indoor trampoline park in nearby Four Corners promotes fitness and fun, with open jump times and party rentals available. Hop around and enjoy the laughter together.
Visit the Montana Science Center
Montana Science Center lets you and the kids get hands-on and learn a thing or two at the same time. Build, engineer, experiment, and play, learning about the world together. You’ll find open lab time, as well as organized programs and events to help you connect with others, beyond just investigating exhibits.
